SpaceX Falcon 9 - Next Landing Attempt Tomorrow, 6:05EST.

Technically, it's a LAUNCH that's the important part... the Payload to orbit is the point of the mission.
However, once the 1st stage has sucessfully delivered the upper stage to the intended altitude and speed, where the 2nd stage takes over...
The "Secondary Mission" begins.

Another 1st stage landing attempt.

This one has plenty of hydraulic fluid - so the same issue that caused the last "sub optimal" landing...
However, this one is going to have some SIGNIFICANTLY more difficult conditions - this satellite is headed for GTO (Geosynchronos Orbit), which means the 1st stage will be much higher, and going much faster, at main engine cutoff (MECO)...
It will have to brake and reenter, making for much higher temperatures on the heat shield that have ever been tried with the "Flyback" stage before.

I think SpaceX is still estimating an "about 50-50" chance of success.

I'm looking forward to the footage - no matter how it comes out, watching a rocket stage come DOWN, on a pillar of fire, with it's landing legs deployed is just COOL.

I wonder which USAF range radar failed...... We used to call that "Range Chicken"...

"Flight is ready to launch ! " (Not really)
"Telemetry is ready to launch !" (Not really)

Nobody wanted to admit they were still getting coffee.
