Today's episode of what the @#$%& is THIS???

I was walking the cat yesterday (supervised walks only now in the new place) and saw something very strange... little bits falling from the trees that looks like millet - little rounds seeds about 2mm in diameter. But... they're ALIVE! See the video - these things are jumping... weird...

video (20mb MOV file from iPhone. OPT-click to download or just click to view in browser): [dl.dropboxusercontent.com]

PS - the trees are California Oaks

I took this pic out at Cosumnes River Preserve. These things on the Oak tree are made by Gall Wasps.

Maybe those little things fell out of one of those galls?

And it's all feeding off one another.

I've seen a woman walking her cat.

It was amazing, really.

The cat was on the left side, walking a moderate, steady pace, just like an obedient dog. It was weird.

But cool.

I'm still recovering from finding out that there are wasps in figs. I now believe that wasps are very sneaky and will try to take over the world.
