Help with Yosemite Mail gone wacky

I noticed a week ago, that items that I've flagged on my iPhone Mail app aren't showing up on my Mac's Mail app.

Even items I flag in the Mac Mail app aren't even showing up as flagged.

Now the search function has total failed. Absolutely nothing I search for shows up. I get "0" items found.

Help me fix this.

Thanks,

Bryan

Grumpy,

I don't know what you have tried and I don't have a guaranteed fix. I know the steps I'd take if I had this problem.

1. Check in and search at ASC: [discussions.apple.com]

While waiting for answers, I'd take the following steps, one at a time, and test after each:

1. Shut down and restart.
2. Hard restart - Hold Sleep & Home button for about 10 seconds or until you see the Apple Logo.
3. Restore to Factory specs then restore from Backup.

Hope this helps.

Remember how when you were little
you could just rip off your diaper and
just run around naked and everyone
thought it was so cute and funny?

Anyway, I need bail money.

Search has failed in Mail on your Mac?

Is Spotlight enabled and successfully producing results from your Mac?

If so then you probably need to rebuild your Mail indexes. Pretty common problem.

Quit Mail.

Hold the Option key on your keyboard while clicking the "Go" menu in the Finder and select the "Library" folder from that menu.

Navigate to this folder:
~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/

Remove any files beginning with the words "Envelope Index."

Relaunch Mail and click "Continue" when you're prompted by the big scary window that makes it look like you've lost all of your email. Let it re-index and "import" for however long that takes.

When done, it should be working again.

Thanks,

I'll add that to this thread I found at Apple:

[discussions.apple.com]

Spotlight worked on the Mac, but Mail search produces nothing. Also, flagged items do not appear.

Currently spotlight is re-indexing and then I'll try your suggestion.

Seems, at least after reading some posts at Apple, this is a problem experienced by several others.

Followed the suggestions from the Apple Discussion link, and Onamuji's suggestion.

Mail is now working. Search works and flagged items now work, as well as importing flagged emails from my iPhone.

Thanks.
