Apple Mac engineers leaving the sinking ship.

This article talks about the large departures, especially from the Mac division.

Doesn't look good for the future of the Mac at Apple.

If Casebolt was primarily responsible for the disaster that was the iTrashcan, I say good riddance. It's the OS and mid level hardware people that I would be worried about keeping (assuming that there are any stellar people left that haven't already been poached for the iOS team).

This guy wasn't responsible for the overall concept of iTrashcan or how it looks, he was responsible for getting it built, and making it work.

From his new title, it looks like Elon doesn't want any more troubles like they had with the Falcon doors, and wants someone experienced to lead the work into turning such concepts into reality.

Apple has never been known as a great workplace, but at least your work has a chance of making a large impact. When those chances fade, and the desire to have an impact isn't being fulfilled, it's time to look for a different job.

Tesla isn't a great work environment either, but at least the other attraction still applies.

In related news, the next Tesla will require dongles for the steering wheel, seat (it can only fit one person in the SUV version), AC vents and door handles. It will run on the energy of black holes.

There will be a lower end model where there's one pedal for both the accelerator and brake.

hahahahahahahahaha!

Joke aside, with the regen braking, electric cars can be driven using only one pedal a lot of the time, resulting in less frequent use of the brake pedal.

The iBrake!

(Sounds like a terrible name for a consumer product, but Apple made 'iPad' no longer NSFW...)

For an industrial designer, designing cars is a kind of a brass ring to reach for. If Apple is shelving its own car project and that's what you want to do, then it's time to move.

Funny that Apple was poaching a lot of talent from Tesla over the past couple of years. How the tide is turning.

And yeah, Tesla's work-life balance makes Apple look like a country club by comparison.

Is it too late to spin off the Macintosh Computer Division and turn it over to a dedicated 'skunkworks' group to come up with an insanely great Mac?

Yeah, I guess it is.
