Don Knotts. Bless his heart, but gaahh.

Cher. Better as an actress, and was super hot, but cannot tolerate her vocal stylings.

Betty White - Perhaps I always held the Mary Tyler Moore character against her.

LOVED Cher as an actress, hated the singing and celebrity.

I'm probably gonna get in trouble for this one, but Julia Roberts. She is just so loved, and she looks to me like someone who is totally insincere and would, like, make your life absolutely miserable if you ever made the mistake of marrying her. (Like Julia Roberts would marry me!)

Probably why I loved My Best Friend's Wedding- she just fulfilled all my totally superficial predjudices in that one, while Cameron Diaz (who in real life may be horrible, who knows?) became my personal "America's Sweetheart".

Speaking of America's Sweetheart, Sandra Bullock falls into much the same category for me. She's just so sweet, and then she marries this obvious @#$%& "bad boy" Jesse James, and he breaks her heart!

Duh. Totally didn't see THAT coming. RollingEyesSmiley5

Yeah, we went to Desert Trip this past summer in Cali, with the Stones, McCartney, the Who, Neil Young, and Roger Waters playing Pink Floyd...and Bob Dylan.

Even tho he's a favorite son to this Minnesotan, I felt fortunate that we got there late that night and missed most of his mumbling. He had his (very influential!) time, but performance-wise now, he seems to have lost his edge.

I think I misled you all in my post because I included Cher, who's still alive. I was thinking more of performers long departed...performers regarded with some sentimentality.

Who among us can't tolerate Jimmy Stewart?

Never saw the appeal, in any regard, talent or extraordinary beauty, of Elizabeth Taylor. Same for Betty Davis. Don't dislike them, just held zero appeal for me in any respect.

Streisand is lost on me, to the degree I would apply the word 'overrated' were I not a believer that it's far too subjective a topic to attach such labels to anyone. Dianna Ross probably populates this same constellation for me.

Springsteen. Happy to give him his due as a performer actually, but I can't stand his materiel. As a songwriter he's as overrated as they get.

Will Ferrell is not and has never been funny, with the only exception being the More Cowbell sketch. And even then, he was about 10 seconds away from overstaying his welcome when the sketch ended.

Bruce Springsteen. Never saw the appeal, especially when someone calls himself "The Boss"... Of all his songs, maybe one or two are OK.

I felt that way until I saw his take on The Aritocrats. I think he's very much a comedian's comedian. How he ever gained any kind of general popularity with his schtick, though, I have no idea. I like him, but I can see how almost nobody would.

....Brittany Spears.....not sure why she is still famous.....she seems totally vapid and superficial......and most people have grown in some way over the years.....but she seems exactly the same......

......what happened to Bruce Willis? seems to be the new Nic Cage.....doing all these movies back-to-back just for the money. In some only appears as 'cameo' but they build the movie around him and all of them are the same.....for a while he was in some pretty good movies, now all crappy ones......

Glad I am not the only one who doesn't care for Dylan.
Once, at work, someone said, "I have tickets to see Bob Dylan," with a smile. I replied, "Better you that me." People looked at me like I was crazy. This was decades ago, and my opinion hasn't changed.

As for actors/comedians, I know it is going back a loooooong way, but never cared for Jerry Lewis.

Heh! Throw in Roy Orbison's warbling, and you have a triumvirate of "interesting" sounds.

Charles Nelson Reilly always irked me for some reason. Maybe it was that goofy laugh, but as a kid, That Lidsville show drove me nuts when he appeared.

That, plus all those game shows I was addicted to in my youth. Seems like he was on them all.

Chris Farley was a good pick. I never understood why he was considered funny. And I felt like he was ashamed of himself and it was yucky to watch him acting that out.

Anthony Quinn. To me, he always looked like he would stink of stale sweat and vodka. And he was boring.

Don Rickles. I would like to see him get hit in the face by a 200-mile-an-hour hockey puck.

Yes, you hit the nail on the head. Some comedians can be self-deprecating and make it work. He was just embarrassing to watch (for me, anyway). Anthony Quinn was never a favorite of mine, either, although I saw him in an early Fellini film and he was good in that (playing an abusive brute, BTW).

Thank you. Growing up, he was almost revered as a god in Philadelphia. I was never a fan. I saw a comedian once on TV who said he was going to sing every single BS song... He sang, "I was out on the street at night with my girl.... thank you."

Agree with most of the names mentioned above. But I actually do like Tom Petty. And Neil Young. And Betty White.

The common thread for me is I like music that is... musical. That means I don't like Dylan, Springsteen, Cher (as a singer; like her as an actress, though), Rod Stewart, or anyone with a crappy voice and/or can't sing. That also means I do like Streisand (good voice and singer).

I suppose, but k.d. lang's version of Orbison's "Crying" is really good. Keeping with my sentiment above, k.d. lang, is a terrific singer.

Bob Dylan certainly is an acquired taste.
Here's a clip from his legendary 1966 tour of the United Kingdom with the Band. Many people think of this as a seminal period in music.

I thought I was the only one who didn't like Dylan. Good to know I'm not alone. But here's where I'm sure I'll make enemies. I can't stand Van Morrison. Yeah. I said it. I may have already relayed the story of being in the dentist's chair for some work years ago and they offered headphones so I could listen to some music. All they had was a Van Morrison CD. I declined and said I'd rather listen to the drill.
