Kessel Run in 12 parsecs smuggler lands in wrong area at local spaceport

Actor and vintage plane buff Harrison Ford had a close call at the controls of a single-engine aircraft when he overflew a 737 passenger jet minutes from taking off and landed on a taxiway at John Wayne Airport in Orange County.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident, which occurred midday Monday.

"Air traffic controllers cleared the pilot of a single-engine Aviat Husky to land on Runway 20L at John Wayne Airport Monday afternoon,” FAA spokesman Ian Gregor said. “The pilot correctly read back the clearance. The pilot then landed on a taxiway that runs parallel to the runway, overflying a Boeing 737 that was holding short of the runway. The FAA is investigating."

Probably shouldn't be allowed in the air without Chewbacca as a co-pilot.

He'll probably get a warning from the FAA.
because $$$$$$

You know I looked at the map view of John Wayne Airport - it's essentially a one strip airport (there's a much shorter secondary strip which maybe could be used by prop planes.) If there's any taxiways that could accommodate a landing they're right next to the main terminals and the prop planes; I'm sure the 737 was by the terminals.

He might lose his pilots license, even with his wealth. He's not getting any younger and that seems like a pretty serious mistake.

Maybe all of his problems trace to the fact that a parsec is not a measurement of time but rather a measurement of distance based on the arc of an angle.

I swear he had an issue a while back with a crash landing on a golf course.

Yes, cause was mechanical failure that stopped the engine.

I don't think a 737 would even be allowed nor dare to venture onto the narrow taxiway for runway 2R.
He'd either have to fly over a 737 on the parallel taxiway for 2L

OR

He was supposed to be landing on the short runway 2R but came in on 2L instead and the 737 was on a taxiway that crosses 2L to get to the parallel taxiway to to get to the end of the field and the runway marks for 2L and he actually flew over the 737 there. There's three "theres" for this possibility.

The article doesn't go into any specifics regarding which taxiway nor where on the taxiway . Nor does it mention which runway he was supposed to be landing on nor which one he was thinking he was landing on.

Do the pilots that land on the wrong runways at the wrong airports lose their licenses or lose some flying time working with the FAA to mitigate it happening again ?

One parallax second of arc...

That's been explained. (Retconned.)

It wasn't expressed as a unit of time, but was descriptive of the dangerous and tricky route that he took to shave off time.

[starwars.wikia.com]

The Kessel Run was a hyperspace route used by smugglers and unscrupulous freighter captains to move spice from the spice mines of Kessel at the behest of the Pyke Syndicate, who relied on the foolhardy Kessel Runs to deliver the illicit substance to their customers. The route involves several extreme changes in velocity in order to jump to, and drop out of, light speed with the minimum time spent out of hyperspace while making drops, pick ups or tight turns. It was therefore the source of much bragging between smugglers. The time to perform the run proved too difficult to arbitrate (due to the highly relativistic distances involved) but a fierce competition developed nonetheless, for the pilot and ship able to make the run while covering the shortest overall distance demonstrating the most adept maneuverability and pilotage. Han Solo, captain of the Millennium Falcon, made the infamous run in less than 12 parsecs, breaking a long-held record.
