How do I delete aliases that can't be deleted!?

OK, so a friend staying with me has an iMac and I'm helping him rebuild his iTunes library - long story - anyway, so, we backed his music and deleted the music files from his computer but there are about 800 zero bytes aliases that are still showing up when searching his Mac. There is no path to them and they cannot be deleted. Can you believe that *I'm* stumped!?!?!?!?!? Here's a screenshot:

Have you tried selecting the files then hitting Command Delete?

Yeah. No delete option.

Does not look like they're alias files.

That one you've selected looks like a corrupt music file.

What's the path to those files? What folder are they in? Hit Command+R while one is highlighted in the search results to open a new window targeting that folder.

Go to Terminal and rm them. Obviously do so with great caution; rm used indiscriminately will happily destroy most anything you throw at it, including critical system files and your wedding pictures. Best bet is to (if possible) move them all to a separate folder containing only the files you want to kill, then navigate to that folder in a Terminal shell, and nuke the contents with rm.

That's the thing - there's no path and no folder. They only show up when searching the Mac for mp3s.

Download and install EasyFind.

It will show file type and path.

Also capable of moving files to the trash, or instantly deleting them.

If you type "rm" in the Terminal and then drag and drop the file you're seeing from the Finder, does it give you a file path? Hit enter, which will remove the file, then repeat.

You mentioned no delete option. What I meant was to select the files then hold the command key and hit the delete button. Good luck
