Verizon Internet Service and Email

From my DSL service I still have an email account I use occasionally. Was just checking it this weekend, saw there was a notice from Verizon that effective April 5th they are ending that email service.

Two option, one is to be able to keep the verizon.net address, the email will be transferred to AOL. The other option ends having the address, but facilitates moving any email to another account.

So anyone else still have a verizon.net address? If you haven't checked it in a while, there is just a short time to make a decision.

A senior friend of mine has a Verizon.net account and gets her internet via a DSL line. I'll have to check with her to see if she's affected by this.

When Frontier took over for Verizon landlines in California, about a year ago, all those had to switch to AOL email. The Verizon email address still works, you just have to use AOL to access it. The Verizon to AOL email was a much smoother transition than the Verizon FIOS to Frontier.

Verizon has been slowly rolling out the migration to AOL for a while.

Based on postings in a Verizon group on Usenet, it looks like you have about a month from the date you receive the notification to act. Eastern PA seems to have been notified recently.

I haven't received anything yet, here in central Jersey.

No notice yet here in western PA. Thanks the the heads up, though, this was totally off my radar.

I went through this quite a while ago and it worked okay. After the initial fumbling about to get all the settings switched and tested it's been reliable.

Got my notice a couple of weeks ago. I didn't use my verizon email address so losing it wasn't a problem. I don't need AOL.

Baltimore, MD. They are nagging me to make my decision. I will just let it die.
