I'm back! Oh....what a Friday night this has been!

Yep!

I even got "dressed" - first stopped at the grocery store, just in case I hit the "bar" - cause the kitties need their fish heads!

Picked up a Tombstone... just in case.

Drove to the "place" - and it was more crowded than I've seen it since perhaps a New Years Eve.

Amazed... I considered parking. Then I noticed..... of the ~60 cars out front, they weren't cars.

Now for SOME of you, that might not mean much. But ya'll gotta see it to believe it. You know... gun racks, Confederate flag window film.....

I thought that there would be less manure than out back with the cows.... but with all those pick-ups, I'm certain the shiit-kickin' was just too much for my senses to deal with.

I did a 180, stopped again at the grocery store and bought some ice cream.

So here I am.

I traded a night out at a shiit kickin' redneck bar, just to be here with YOU PEOPLE. Yeah.... I'm just as thrilled as you are. ;)

Well, does that make us better or worse than chopped liver?

Jimmypoo,
I got dressed too.
Took off the jeans and put on a clean pair of black pants. Went into Noho (Northampton, MA, a 30 min drive) ate at a new Lebanese restaurant, pricey but very good. Then went to a couple art galleries. One was having an opening. Photos of nudes and plants. The plants were more interesting, which may tell you how good he was. The women all looked like they were already with other men, the photographer was wearing a black mock turtle neck and looked like he was trying to look like he was in NYC. I beat it without even grabbing some free wine. All those people trying to look hip while surrounded by bad art were driving me crazy.

Bought some wine and came home. Here i am with you.

I think it makes us just about equal with chopped liver.

I kinda like @#$%&-kicker bars, especially if they have live music. But then, I've got a lot of choices, so it doesn't ALWAYS have to be a @#$%& kicker bar. Thing is, I've gotta be in the mood.

Anyway, I'm not staying in tonite. I need to get off this computer and start getting ready. The Red Elvises are scheduled to go on at nine.

Better than pork brains with milk.

(remember that post - when I was explaining the benefits of giving Potted Meat, just before xmas? Well.... Ingles [grocery dump here in NC/SC/GA) had that very label on the shelves next to the Spam/tuna/etc.

Here's a reminder.... though it is a bit larger.

(the better for you to see, my dear!)

What the fukc is wrong with you? Did you at least have some free cheese?

The only reason to go to an opening is the free cheese or free wine. I like to be really obvious that that is my reason for being there.

If you ate that, you might consider leaving a fan on in the room ...
... maybe even leave the bedroom door open.

Marcos,
I was just afraid the "artist" was going to corner me and ask me what I thought about his work. I din't want to create a scene.
To redeem myself, i should mention i visited another gallery where i could stand the art and did drink wine. But there weren't any interesting women there.

Noho is one of my favorite towns on the planet. I thought about living there.

On the other hand, Jimmypoo, you've got to give me a more specific visual of just what scary Atlanta suburb you were in....

Stephen,
Noho is a great place but you can't afford to live there if you're not a doctor or lawyer. Well, they do have some areas for the restaurant and shop workers to live. But they are full up.

Never be afraid to tell an artist what you think. If he's any good* (even if you dislike his art) he'll take it in stride, consider your thoughts, or even enjoy the fact that his art was able to provoke dislike. If he's not any good, you'll deflate his ego and discourage him, which he probably needs.

*Good at being an artist, not necessarily good at art, which is much more subjective.

I would never live in a town called "Noho". Ho's are the main things I look for in any town.

What has been goin' on here while I was reformatting HDrives and installing OS X 10.4.4? LOL x 1,000,000. Pork brains with milk by lordie...leave it to JP to come up with the goods.

HotLanta...visited there once, and wanted to get back up to Charlotte real quick. Full of God-fearin' gun-totin' pickup drivin' Rednek rubber dollie men, IIRC. Perhaps we might say that JP is living "out of his element?"

I've got to do some reading in National Geographic and get some perspective on life, or maybe a read my latest copy of Smithsonian, for some grass-roots plant and earth-hugging journalism.

Yessir, it's time to take a different perspective in on life. Or drive through the South again, one or the other.

I went up to my local and the owners son/bartender had his 360 hooked up to the big TV and had rented every game available. Bad for sales, you can't drink if you have both hands on the controller.

The Red Elvises kicked major ass. What a show they put on. When they come to your town, you must see them. I command it.

Fish heads fish heads
Roly poly fish heads
Fish heads fish heads
Eat them up
Yum

In the morning laughing happy fish heads
In the evening floating in the soup

Ask a fish head anything you want to
They won't answer they can't talk

I took a fish head out to see a movie
Didn't have to pay to get it in

They can't play baseball they don't wear sweaters
They're not good dancers they don't play drums

Roly poly fish heads are never seen
Drinking cappuccino in Italian restaurants
with Oriental women

Yeah.

(Barnes And Barnes - Fish Heads Lyrics)

Don't ask who the bell's for, dude. It's you.

Bigstuff,
I am enough older than the Smithies as to be virtually invisible to them.
Also there is a very high lesbian/hetero ratio here. One has to be careful.

They still play on the Pier at Rusty's Surf Ranch. They had a big New Years Party which I didn't go to because it was raining and I felt wimpy and I didn't have a ticket. The rain broke around 10 PM -10:30 PM, and from what I've been told, I made a huge mistake not going.
