I work in marketing, and yes, it's a loathsome occupation.

and treat them as things we use to satisfy our own desires,
the outcome is predictable.

I agree.

Although when I saw Alexa, its one of the first things I thought of -- I would have all my commercials say, "alexa, _____"

Sure it's ingenious, I grant you that. But the level of obnoxiousness is off the charts.

I feel bad for you, and so, I am putting the bat away. :-)

I'm also no fan of marketing. For me it's the quality of a product, not marketing, that causes me to buy. If I want a hamburger I go to local places, not chains like those in ad. And, I never want a "smart" TV.

If idiots could fly, this place would be an airport. And I'd be a TSA agent.

The Burger King exec also changed the Wikipedia entry to a PR statement regarding the ingredients.

The ad's functionality has now been rendered useless. The Wikipedia entry was restored to what it was before, and now has been locked, and Google intervened and stopped the Home from responding to Burger King’s ad.

We should never watch live TV.

Unfortunately sometimes I have to.
