Weird OS behavior . . .

Running two MBPs on 10.9.5 Both exhibiting same behavior. Never seen this before.
It is an intermittent thing.

While working in different programs, whatever window I'm in will go to background for a second or so and then come back on it's own. It's as if it goes to finder and then back. I watch the window menu bar grey out and then come back. The program name does not change in the desktop menu bar.

I have Avira (virus detection) running, so I turned it off from active scan. Situation still happening.

Tried looking in console, but not sure what to look for.

Any advice appreciated!

Thanks!

Don't remember seeing that behavior before

Possible Solution
Relaunch Finder - Dock / Click on Finder iCon / Option+Right Click / Relaunch
or if that doesn't work
Apple / Restart . . .

Restart

Actually, that doesn't change anything. It was happening yesterday, and I shut down every night.

It started again today for a time.

Can't figure out where to begin looking for a cause.

Something's stealing window-focus and it's trying to stay hidden.

Rn a malware scan.

Check your login items. Make a note of the ones that you want to have back later, clear the whole list and reboot.
