Car Guys: Hot Glue Dent Puller ?

The youngest bunged the back of my wife's minivan while moving a friend. Yeah, he's off the list to borrow it again because he didn't fess up until busted.

Supposedly it happened because he 'fell into it'.. it does look like a classic human created dent. So I pulled out the suction cup and.. the dent is too close to a support structure for the cup to hold. So I can either take the rear hatch apart and HOPE that I can access the dent from the back, or ... hmmm.

Hot Glue dent puller ? That seems.. interesting. Has anyone here ever used that sort of thing ? I don't expect the results to be factory pristine, just less obvious....

A clever idea, but that white arching brace would need to:
1. completely span the dent
2. not cause its own dents at its contact points when under pressure
3. not break or bend down when under pressure

Is the dent in metal or plastic (ie the bumper?) When my daughter's Prius had a small dent in the latter, and it wouldn't pop out using a suction cup, I (carefully!) poured a bucket of boiling water over the dented plastic, and then was able to pop it back out.

It's in the metal of the rear hatch. I've done the bumper dent thing... I bought a heat gun for that reason some years ago to fix a ding in my Honda.

I just saw this yesterday... I don't think I'd be willing to try it, but...

take the rear hatch apart and see what you're up against before buying tools I say
course, some of these new clips and fasteners break easy

I agree. That's a task for later this week. I've even got a set of those nice fiberglassed plastic prying tools that help so there aren't tool marks on the panels when I'm done. And a nice rubber hammer to put it all back together... with the black rubber head in a ziploc bag so I don't leave black marks everywhere.

Take it to a pro that specializes in removing dents. I did that and I cannot see where the dent was. $75.

Saint Cloud, Minnesota, where the weather is wonderful even when it isn't.

If you have a heat gun try that first. Did that to the stainless steel fridge. Popped the dent out. Saved me over $200 for the door.

I payed under $100 to have 3 dents removed from my car. I would go the paint less dent repair route if it is a newer vehicle.

Just put the youngest inside the car and repeat the same "accident".

Have a door dent on a 2001 Toyota Solar that is towards front of passenger door. And a small dent in wifes plastic rear bumper cover on her 2012 Toyota Camry. I suppose the heat method will work on the plastic bumper, if I am careful.

How does one go about finding a reputable GOOD pointless dent removal place they can trust locally?
