I didn't see you mention Amazon anywhere in your post.

Are we talking about the Amazon Prime event?

About a week ago, I was looking at a pair of binoculars on Amazon. Lo and behold, the same pair of binocs is listed as one of the prime deals early tomorrow morning. Is this happenstance? I think not. Maybe everyone's deals are custom selected to gain the most sales. They know what you had for supper, you know.

I don't have Prime, so nothing that I wouldn't normally get, and it has to be eligible for free shipping.

I sprung for a Fire HD 8 tablet. Best price since, and perhaps better than, black friday. Been thinking about it since last Christmas. Getting a little tired of squinting at my teeny 4S screen when I want to travel sans 15" laptop.

Maybe some colored pencils. It's astonishing how inexpensive the Prismacolor sets have become.

I'd buy a Fire TV Stick or Fire TV but those don't seem to be on discount.
I'd buy a well priced submersible drone under $1k that has a tether capability and remote viewing...
I'd buy some water proof shoes but couldn't find any.
I'd buy some new razor stuff... but can't be bothered to find what I need.

I'm considering a Norelco S738/82 shaver ($20 off). The Braun still has a tendency to cause a rash if I don't shave very very carefully.

A few books (PRIMEBOOKS17 gets you $5 bucks off of $15) and the 23andMe test so far.

Have had my eye on several color laser printers and 3D printers, but where Prime Day deals hit, the sale prices weren't all that great on the products that I wanted.

FYI Costco has a killer deal on the top of the line 9000 series for under $100 for another few days. Includes excellent trimmer attachment.

went through the deals (all 1800+, I was bored) - nothing of any real interest. Honestly it looked like a garage sale of everything thing they found in the back corners of the warehouse.

How is the 9400 (the only 9000 series they have listed online) better? It's double the price, so it better have something I really want. I have never cared for Norelco trimmers, so adding a beard/stubble trimmer is a waste.

I tried out some Prismacolor pencils in a local art supply store last year. They were really different from the Prismacolor pencils I was using in mid-70s through early 90s. The quality of the new ones, which I think were the "premier" pencils, was very inferior. It would not be possible to get the same result with the pencils I tried. Do you know if they are making the same pencil they were making 25 years ago, and if so, what they call them and where one could buy them?

Bought a new pair of eyeglasses yesterday, my first progressives. (I'm 51)

Could have bought an Apple Watch (almost), but I guess I have to see correctly.

Did the same when I was shopping for my son last year, and ended up with Staedtler.

The only complaints I've heard about the Prismacolors is that when you sharpen them you can find that they have internal breaks. I think this tends to happen more often with individual pencils instead of the sets. You can always take them back to a store and get a replacement for a bad pencil. The Prismacolors are very soft, and if you don't like that then they're not for you.

I've never seen Staedtler colored pencils out in the wild. I do see a lot of people with Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils. The Staedtler Lumographs are popular though.

Torque wrench. My Craftsman from the early 2000's broke and they don't replace those for free.

Also looking at a 1/2" drive breaker bar.

I think the 24" bar would be too long to be useful in a wheel well, or underneath the car, but the deal is not as good for the 15" version. So maybe not worth getting right now.

Well, a cordless Dremel tool ($20 off $100 or more for prime day), Salomon XA pro 3D trail running shoes in black (retail for about $130, Amazon price was 83.37 and then an additional 30% off for Prime Day, final $58.36) and Vent Shades for my Tahoe ($43.76 normal price, 20% off for Prime Day, final $35.01)

Now I am just trying to stay off of there before I find more goodies.

802.11ac router. To replace a dying Netgear N and an actually more dependable but slow G in the supplied-by-AT&T uVerse router.

I just bought that wrench - seems alright for the price. Broke one of the pawls in mine trying using it in a pinch to loosen a stuck bolt. Bad idea.

The Harbor Freight torque wrenches actually review very well and are comparable in accuracy to Craftsman. I actually have a set of both in 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2. I test them occasionally against each other and they are always the same.

....they count on the 'auction' fever.....which is how ebay works....you see a deal with limited amount and you want it because others want it.....you don't really need it and often times when you get it, you wonder why you even got it......

Wow, persistence. I got bored around page 6 or 7 ( what was there 20 per page ? )
one or two thing that looked like it might be a deal (and of interest) were 100% gone and the wait list was closed.

Despite the few movies we've watched I don't think we get our $99 out of the Prime any more.
