Saturday night date movie- Hitchcock

Watched it last night with my SO. Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirrin.

Totally excellent!!!! Well written, well directed, well acted. Danny Elfman's score was a treat

More about the love story between him and his wife with the making of Psycho as a backdrop.

Gus Van Sant had no business re-doing Psycho.

He had business to do so. He's a certified genius. He just should have done a much better job of it.

.....remake is o.k. but the issue was it was shot-for-shot remake......if you are going to remake a classic, then do it differently or with a twist....why remake it shot-for-shot so it basically is the same movie......

....by the way one of those that really love Hitchcock....best is Rear Window....Psycho, etc....

Whenever people talk about Hitchcock films, I almost never hear Frenzy (1972) mentioned. I think it's among his most entertaining films. After all the years ago that I saw it I've never forgotten the scene with the potato sack - classic Hitch - right up there with Mt. Rushmore, the cornfield and the shower.

Give it a try.

Last night TCM showed one of my favorites, although not a very nice "print" of it: Shadow of a Doubt.

Thanks for the tip; that's one we haven't seen. I just added it to my Netflix queue.

And thanks to jimmy d, too, for "Frenzy"; haven't seen it either, and added it.
