So he just hung around for a bit.

(I'll let someone else explain it)

Just a guess, could the video frame rate be exactly the same as the frequency of the flapping wings?
Like when you see wheels on a car in a video that seem to be standing still, when the spokes are at a certain frequency. Sometimes when they even roll backwards.

I'll vote technology and coincidence rather than witchcraft...

For that second and a half his wings happen to be beating at exactly 30 flaps per second??

IDK. Whatever it is, it's a cool shot!

Birds are the ultimate STOL aircraft.

I'll see you again... when we are both like golden clouds on the wind.

Look at the top of the frame. here are frames 31, 32 and 33 from that GIF. Look how in 32 and 33 some wings show up at the top. What is happening here? is there a second bird? Photoshop? what else can cause this?

It probably is just another passing bird.

It's not faked. It's not uncommon. It's not Ombligo's original video (unless he's "Ginger Beard" on youtube).

The weird shadow at the top of the frame looks like a "rolling shutter" effect.

I'm not Ginger beard, just snagged a cool GIF to share.

Everything I read said wings matched frame rate to give a stroboscopic effect.
