I have seen scattered reports of installer issues etc. My own experience is with El Capitan. I found that the Office 2008 upgrade installer would not work properly on a machine booted into El Capitan. However, it would run if I booted from Yosemite to install onto the El Capitan drive.

So far it is working fine on El Capitan, but my usage requirements are pretty simple.

edit: saw that you are in El Cap already. Installer issues may still apply.

My wife has transitioned from 10.6.8 to 10.12.6 about a week ago and uses Office 2008 on a 2011 MBP. This was done as a direct install/update of Sierra onto the existing 10.6 drive, so Office wasn't being installed from scratch.

In any case there is one problem that others seem to have also, and only seems to have started with Sierra. Word is leaving a large white rectangle behind it's open document and it covers the desktop. Quitting word makes it go away.

Also the Office apps seems to take extra time to actually quit compared to previous experience.

I installed Sierra when it first was released and there hasn't been any issues with Office 2008.

None here either, but limited use -- just a few Word files and simple Excel docs.

Moved my wife from a 2007 20" with SL to a 2009 21" with Sierra, transferred fine.

Or you can just get Office 2016 from Gamesdeal for $24 with the code "GDsummersale"

Omb,

That looks way too good to be true! Is this for Office 365 or the actual downloadable stand-alone non-subscription version?

Not sure, I'm at work and can't access the site through the school filter.

Om,

If it's the downloadable stand-alone non-subscription version, I'd be in for 5 copies!

It kinda hard to tell, although $30 for something thats $180 = prob too good to be true.

this made me lol:
Office 2016 Professional Plus Salient Features:
Easy file sharing.
Improved user interface and products.
Addition of new themes.
Formatting even quicker.
Grammar checker is also improved and quicker in comparison to the previous release.
Higher DPI support up to 300% for your documents to look clearer.
Catchy Theme.

The Mac version is $58 and appears to be the download version, not 365.

Resellerratings.com and scamadvisor.com both give Gamedeals passing marks.

I've seen this, myself.

It doesn't happen on every Mac running Office 2008, but does occur frequently.

Office for Mac Home and Business is a $230 product.

This is at best a "gray market" seller.

I've seen such "deals" before and they turned out to either be the educational version sold fraudulently or illegal re-sold volume license versions.

There are reports of people buying game-redemption codes from this site, only to find that the codes had been revoked for illegal resale.

I got Office 2016 via the Microsoft HUP for $10. I just haven't installed it yet because it requires 10.10, and my machine is running 10.9.

rz,

You got it because of a special program affiliated with your employer. Someone like me and, likely, Robfilm, isn't going to be eligible for it. Availability is 100% dependent on whether or not your employer has arranged for it. Kind of like getting a discounted copy through a university. Student at university, get discounted copy. Not a student at that university? SOL.
