Thanks for checking on us. We're okay. Front/back yards were lakes overnight but water has receded a bit since then. The rain was coming in hard corresponding to the "band" of Harvey passing over Houston. Dumped tons of rain for couple of hours and then quiet for an hour or so before the next band moved over. I think we've survived through band 3 so far...lost count.

Has been a break in the rain for awhile now, so thankfully some water receding.

I'm hoping the worst is over, but the forecast is for more rain through Thursday or Friday.

Stay safe.

It is not the rain, it is the runoff from upstream, where the old prairie and rice fields, previously holding water, are now thousands of houses with immediate runoff.
The bayou behind the house has risen 15 feet in the last twelve hours, still rising.
So far we lost one car, the garage, both, gas and electricity. The street in the front of the house has 4 feet water.
The Subarban, sitting at the highest point of the driveway, has water sloshing over floorboards.
We got two feet to go before it comes to the first floor of the house.
We really did not see that much rain here, we have seen a lot more in the past, yet we are getting flooded,
Like never before....

Ouch! Good luck.

I hear they want people to shelter in-place even if it means climbing onto the roofs of their homes. Pretty grim. On TV they showed two people wading in neck high water to a dry road, then turning around and wading back where they came from.

Saint Cloud, Minnesota, where the weather is wonderful even when it isn't.

I've got family in Sugarland and Pearland, and downtown Houston. Luckily they're all still dry (not flooded).

The worst seems likely yet to come… Dig in and ride it out as long as you can but have an exit strategy.

I am about 3 miles north of Pinkoos. House dry right now. Just in a wait and see mode. Haven't ventured out much at all.

Watching Weather channel rescue a family with three young kids from the rising water. The looks on the kids' faces was heartbreaking. Sitting here and only being able to watch this unfolding in relative safety without being able to help is even worse.

Saw a warning about sheltering in an attic. Don't!-unless you can get out of the attic if the water rises that high!

Just came back from picking my mom up and bringing her to our house. Streets in our area were passable but it hadn't rained in awhile. Just started raining fairly heavily again.
