As mentioned in a few of those comments, I would also like to know why they are turning off the cameras on the 14th, prior to the final descent. Would we not be interested to see what the final seconds looked like? Perhaps there would not be enough time to send that data back before the equipment is totally destroyed?

You nailed it. The low bit rate wouldn't allow any photo data to be sent (and use precious bandwidth for the instruments they WILL be using) before it burns up in Saturns atmosphere.
