Normally it's "Le Mieux est l'ennemi du bien" (Best is the enemy of good). but today, in conversation with a colleague whose constant complaining about a minor task has produced management over-reaction. And I said:

"You know how the squeaky wheel gets the grease ? Well you've been squeaking too much, and now you've been greased. Stop talking about it !"

Heard from a 9/11 first responder who is now an advocate for their welfare.

"People say "You only live once." That's wrong. You only die once, but every day is an opportunity to live another life, to change the world, to make it a better place."

“This fatberg is up there with the biggest we’ve ever seen. It’s a total monster and taking a lot of manpower and machinery to remove as it’s set hard. It’s basically like trying to break up concrete. It’s frustrating as these situations are totally avoidable and caused by fat, oil and grease being washed down sinks and wipes flushed down the loo.”
-Thames Water’s head of waste networks, Matt Rimmer

(A fatberg weighing the same as 11 double decker buses and stretching the length of two football pitches is blocking a section of London’s ageing sewage network. The congealed mass of fat, wet wipes and nappies is one of the biggest ever found and would have risked raw sewage flooding on to the streets in Whitechapel, East London, had it not been discovered during a routine inspection earlier this month. Now workmen armed with shovels and high-powered jets are working seven days a week to break it up. The grim task is expected to take three weeks.)

Where it's fat.

My current fav is the first quote in my sig.

"After a time, you may find, that having is not so pleasing a thing after all, as wanting. It is not logical, but it is often true."

- Mr. Spock

“There is no greater calling than to serve your fellow men. There is no greater contribution than to help the weak. There is no greater satisfaction than to have done it well.”

- Walter Reuther
