Boutique price point. Two more years and the iPhone SE(x) will have those features as well for a $399 price point...

A 64 GB VIII is $700 and has most everything the X has except the screen.

Have you read any articles about the X screen? Samsung (lol) is the sole source and they cost more than the 8 screen.

Exactly. Unfortunately it's the model that most interests me. If they'd have done a 128GB model at $799.00 I would have jumped on it. Looks like I'm staying with my 6S.

Definitely a tool for the bleeding edge. By the time you can actually get your hands on one (production is >10K/day right now) they'll be hard rumoring what's new for X.1…

Can we bring back $99 subsidized iPhone pricing with 2-year cell phone contract as an option?

I predict some deals for Xmas on all the phones, from the carriers and the retailers, like Target.
Probs at least $200-$300 off via gift cards and such.
Maybe Costco will have a good promo as that's where I got my 6plus that I will probably upgrade to either 8plus or Xplus. I figure it will be a birthday/Xmas combo gift for me, from my husband. Haven't told him yet. smiling smiley

I owe my son a new iPhone as a graduation gift (delayed from June). He wanted to wait until the new models were announced and he's already informed me the iPhone X is his choice. Now if we're able to snag one before Christmas . . .

Apple to offer $100 store credit to iPhone customers
The credit is a quick response to early adopters frustrated by dramatic iPhone price cuts announced just a day earlier.

Apple rewards iPhone beta testers with $200 early buyer penalty
As Dan pointed out the iPod Touch will be available soon for US$299 and US$399, which is great news for those who want an iPhone experience without the AT&T service. I was actually thinking of selling my iPhone and cancelling AT&T when a few minutes later in the keynote Steve Jobs slapped all of us suckers who bought an iPhone the last two months with the announcement that the 8GB iPhone is now immediately available for US$399 (versus the US$599 price it was yesterday). Wow, I can understand a price drop after a few months, but just two months after the launch and after it is too late for us to return our iPhones. Hmm, I don't know if I am angrier at myself for being a sucker or at Apple for rewarding all of us beta testers. Apple should seriously consider giving us $50, $100 or $200 in iTunes credit or something to try to ease the pain and thank all of us for the success of the iPhone.

There is just no way I would spend that much for a phone (or laptop) that could so easily be dropped, smashed, lost or stolen. Phones live a tough life, who hasn't dropped their phone? Yeah, a case helps but it's no guarantee. If my $225 Android dies an early death I'll be bummed. If I had a $1000+ iPhone disappear to the Grim Reaper I'd cry in my beer for an evening or two along with a number of expletives. Sure, you can buy insurance but now you're just making your phone even more expensive to own.

When it comes to a phone or laptop, I buy the least costly item I need to get what I need done. I consider both disposable...
