Sam,

Maybe the obvious is the correct answer. But, your obvious answer may not be the same as my obvious answer. So, I ask the question... Is your phone in a case? I have a 6S and it's _very_ slippery. I'd absolutely never use it without a case. Mine is in an Otterbox Defender. Gripping the phone and the phone sliding out of my hand is definitely not a problem.

My iPhone has survived 3 or 4 drops onto pavement wearing one of these.

I tested cases at the Applestore by pushing them across their nice clean table and Apple's silicone case slid the least easiest. For my 6s was 35 or 39 dollars. Possibly cheaper version elsewhere but I wasn't spending hours of effort on a case.

Probably not the best solution for dropping on concrete from 6 feet but I didn't want a case that big either.

I figured help keep it in my hand/sliding off counters and I should be good.

I also had them put a screen protector on it while I was there. I thought I had a good digger in the protector but it appears to be gone, so must have been just a rub mark.

BIG fan of my LifeProof case on my iPhone 5s.
When I upgrade phones, my first purchase will be a LifeProof Nuud case for whatever my new phone is.
Plus, they're waterproof!

Sam,

Our sponsor sells these:

NewerTech case

The textured grip around the edges keeps it from sliding out of your hand. I've been using one for 2 years now and it's great.

My daughter uses a grip on her iPhone and I think it works well. She does use a case in addition to the grip. [www.amazon.com]

A colleague has a couple of these on his phone and they're pretty sweet for not a whole lot of additional depth -

Yep. I also have a 6. The grippy strips really help.

yes, those NuGuard KX cases are great, I have one which saved my iPhone 5 many times and now protects my iPhone SE. Each phone survived 3-4 drops on concrete from 4-5 feet. I m very happy with that case, but I am also intriguied by the one in that David Pogue video.

My wife, my mother and I all have Rhinoshields (the Pogue bumper) on our phones for years. They last forever, add little bulk. allow you to see and touch the back of the phone and, unless you drop it from a plane, keep the phone from cracking up.
