Google Pixel XL2 pricing out

Higher prices seem to be fashionable this year:

The 64GB model will cost $849, while the 128GB model will jump to $949.

Has a 6" diagonal screen, a few more pixels than the iP 8 plus, one non-selfie camera (vs the iP8+'s two), last year's Snapdragon 835 (per this rumor site). Looks like this (for real):

(Notice the orange button? Ooh!)

iP8 plus is $800 at 64GB, and $950 at 256GB.

Just FYI.

cell phone prices are ridiculous these days, and remember when Steve Ballmer said no one will pay $500 for a cell phone.

I suppose with Moore's law petering out means that they can no longer add features, capabilities or performance without increasing die size and thus cost, and they need drivers of profit on decreasing sales.

Plus, inflation - $700 just doesn't go as far as it used to!

From this really great article in a thread below: [appleinsider.com]

In contrast, Samsung's Galaxy S8 uses an incredibly high resolution screen with more than 4.2 million pixels, but is paired with a chip that can't keep up, giving it benchmarks about in line with cheaper Androids from Huawei and Xaiomi that have much lower screen resolutions.

Of course, that applies here too...

The Galaxy S8 uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835. Calling it "last year's" is code for outdated which it most definitely isn't. It ain't the chip.

Qualcomm unveiled its next-gen Snapdragon 835 flagship SoC on November 17, 2016...

...which, yeah, probably didn't start appearing in phones til this year. It just feels like last year's chip in smartphone years.
