Own an Apple TV? My favorite bonus to enhance your experience!

We like all of the features of the newer Apple TVs (in this case, the ATV4). We have all of our content in one place, and we hardly ever use our Roku3 anymore.

But the remote - just wow. It's such a frustration with no asymmetry, etc. (I even added a sticker to tag the bottom). We love the Roku remote by comparison. I was loudly cursing the Apple remote a couple weekends ago.

On the recommendation of a good friend (who had dropped and cracked his touchpad on his Apple remote), I purchased a case for it on Amazon. They are $7-12 shipped.

This is the one I purchased:

I added it and the remote was INSTANTLY more usable. Reminded me of the ol' hockey puck mouse - just add that plastic adapter, and that mouse was usable again.

Anyway, YMMV. But for me, this will be an obligate purchase for any ATVs in the future. Given its cost and functionality value, I thought I'd post here!

....I believe that the remote for the older Apple TVs work on the new one too....the older ones are not as 'slippery'.......some people just buy the older remote to use........or use one from an older Apple TV that they have.....

Older Apple Mac remotes work almost as well too. But not as many features as the newer remote.

I detest the remote that comes with the A-TV. I use the iPhone Remote app instead.

I've never had an issue with it, although I use my separate receiver remote to adjust volume. That glow-in-the-dark one is pretty cool though.

....the number of times that the channel is 'mistakenly' changed just by touching it or picking it up is numerous.....can't figure out why they don't fix it.....numerous complaints from consumers about it....

Onlly problem I ave with that app is that it seems to run the iPad battery down almost as quickly as playing a streaming video.

Still using ATV3. Remote is OK and simple. But battery doesn't last.
