Charging the Magic Mouse 2

I'm thinking about getting one of these. Since charging doesn't work when a computer is asleep or shutdown, I suppose it needs its own charger.

Will a charger designed for a 3rd gen iPod Touch, or an iPhone 4s be sufficient to charge this mouse?

I just use a lighting cable into a hub attached to my iMac. Only takes a few hours and you can use the pad while it charges.

Assuming you purchase the Magic Mouse 2, it comes with the charging cable. The Lightning port is on the bottom of the mouse making this one of Apple's most stupid designs. The only work-around is to remember to plug it in when you walk away from the computer for several hours. I periodically check the battery % and plug it in when I go to bed. My iMac continues to charge while it is asleep.

You check the battery % by having the Bluetooth control shown in your menu bar. Select Bluetooth in System Preferences. Select "show in menu bar."

I love the way it works and it does hold a charge for a while.

Will the iPod or iPhone charger work? Does it supply enough juice?

If it works like any other apple BT device, you will get notifications when the battery drops below 10% -- and then continuous nags all the way to 0%

How long is "awhile"?

I thought I remember reading something like a month?

So, nobody owns one of these mice and charges it with a power adapter?

I'f you're paying attention to the alerts, you'll charge it overnight when the battery gets low.

If you let the battery run out and leave it charging for just 15-20 minutes (take a coffee break), that alone will probably be enough to get you through the end of the day. Then you leave it charging overnight and you're set for the next month or more.

Can charge it from any powered USB port. Computer/hub/plug-in-charger/"smart" power strip. Whatever.
