Older technology - Rewinding the scroll

BE KIND-REWIND!
Today is Simchas Torah, when the last weekly portion of the 5 Books of Moses is read. The Torah ends with the Jewish people so close they can see the Promised Land, but their arrival there is in the future. Then it's back to creation of the Universe in Genesis, to repeat the whole adventure over again. This has been done for at least 2500 years, maybe 3000.

This is a particularly good version, with explanations!, of rewinding the lengthy Torah scroll (5 Books) once a year.

This particular torah is from the 1600's. From Germany.
Sorry, no deceptive stereotypes, just a rabbi in straw hat rewinding the scroll and talking with lots of great information on what you are seeing.

I will say the kid with the mohawk is definitely not stereotypical.

And the guy behind him with the skunk stripe is? emoticon-animal-022

Once we place nonhuman animals outside our sphere of moral consideration
and treat them as things we use to satisfy our own desires,
the outcome is predictable.
