I feel for those folks. There's been a plague of wild turkeys here in the Sacramento suburbs over the past few years. They used to be confined to areas down along the rivers, but now they've really expanded their empire.

Wait until they start dropping from the sky.

Some carriers have been “pecked” but not hurt. Don’t know what to say about that.

I’d like to set loose a rafter of turkeys on the surly individuals who staff our local PO branch.

I remember the squadrons of geese flying over Elmendorf and Anchorage.

Take cover...

Gooney birds on Midway blanket the ground. A friend flew P-3s out of there in the '90s. You had to shuffle them out of your way with your feet.

The city can't eradicate the turkeys under the city's ordinance, Bobst said, so a letter was sent out this week to residents asking them to stop putting out any kind of bird food.

They can't get their mail, so they send a letter?

"Gooney Bird population then was estimated to be around 500,000" on a 2.4 square mile island. That's a lot of bird crap.........

I'm pretty sure this was a narration from a newsreel done 60 years ago added to modern video. Or something.

Saint Cloud, Minnesota, where the weather is wonderful even when it isn't.

My quote was from a 2 year old comment to the video

"Beverly Sinwell Detofsky2 years ago

I was stationed on Midway for 15 months when I was in the Navy. The Gooney Bird population then was estimated to be around 500,000. Wall-to-wall Goonies!"

I edited several hours of unsanctioned footage my buddy took with an unauthorized video camera he took on many P-3 missions. That's where I saw the video of the goonies, and my buddies squadron mates trying to plow through them on their way to the mess hall.

Also saw footage of a MiG-29 buzzing my buddies P=3 from about 50 feet wing seperation, upside down, like Maverick in Top Gun. I should see if I still have the .mov file. It was Sorenson 3, so QT should still play it, or at least VLC.
