Twelve years on the Internet - My first screwjob

I ordered something a few weeks ago from a website that I have ordered from in the past.

All of their payments are processed through Paypal. I never keep a balance in my Paypal account and always fund payments with a credit card, so there is at least one layer of someone I can complain if something goes wrong.

However, I just received a payment the day before and had not transfered the money out of the account, so the default funding option was the Paypal account and not my credit card. Without thinking, I kept the default option.

A couple days later, I received the goods. All of them broken. Given the pristine condition of the shipping boxes (both external and internal), they had to have left the vendor broken.

Now, the vendor is not replying to any of my contact attempts and I have a feeling that my money is a good as gone. "Paypal Protection" (what an oxymoron) doesn't apply since I received what I paid for and they evidently don't take into consideration damaged goods.

Luckily, relative to what I spend online, it was a small amount ($60), but it still pisses me off - mainly because I didn't do what I normally would have done and got screwed because of it.

Why not just settle for a Speck's dinner coupon (capon?) and three rolls of quarters for next door?

Oh, I get it now.

I completely forgot about my Frappr entry.

Dude, you seriously freaked me out for a few minutes.

I could have said a rotisserie chicken and a quart of Verl's macaroni salad from Redneck Redner's, too.

Perhaps you'd like to help someone else make the same mistake you did?
Name of vendor and what you ordered, please?

Had the same experience the other day. But I remembered and switched to a card. PayPal still insisted on using the cash in my account, only put the remainder on my card. I had to spend the cash before they'd let me put the whole thing on a card.

They really, really, rather have you use your money.
