More detail here:
[nfl.nbcsports.com]
"NBC Sports will have blanket coverage of Super Bowl LII throughout the day on Feb. 4, culminating with the game broadcast at 6 p.m. ET. Viewers can watch the game on NBC or stream it on NBCSports.com and the NBC Sports app."

Requires Flash for the web browser version.

Apparently the NBC Sports app will only work on mobile devices if you have Verizon. It's not clear if others will be able to watch it on a mobile device via WiFi.

"Q: Can I watch the Super Bowl on my connected TV?
A: The Super Bowl game and pregame streams will be available through the NBC Sports app to Connected TV users on supported devices.

Q: Which Connected TV devices are supported?
A: The following Connected TV devices are supported:
- Apple TV (3rd generation and below)
- Apple (tvOS) (Apple TV 4 and 4K)
- Roku
- Amazon Fire TV
- Windows 10 (desktop and tablet)
- Xbox One
- Samsung TV (2016)"

We've got an over-the-air antenna, so will be able to watch on our TV via the local NBC station. OTA in my experience has less compression than cable or a streaming connection.

Good luck.

Honestly over the air is probably cheapest if you want to be legal.

OTA - Over The Air

i.e. traditional television broadcast by radio.

OP doesn't mention having a TV and does speculate on watching the event on an internet device.

I don't think you can use a Roku or a Chromecast without a TV. But I don't think they help with watching on a Mac or iPad.

More Devil's Advocate-
some TV's don't have a built-in tuner.

But yes, OTA is the best option if you have a TV with a tuner, antenna, and good reception.

Some options for streaming OTA TV here.
[lifehacker.com]

Doesn't mention EyeTV, which offers a variety of options for OTA on Macs and iOS devices.

A TV without a tuner isn't a television. It's a monitor.

Yes I have a TV, and a Roku.

Where I live you cannot get any OTA signal at all.

If I could get OTA, I wouldn't have asked the question.

I did a little bit of research and it appears you'd need at least one other device to stream it onto your Mac or iPad. Looks like a Slingbox would do it.
