Flash you fools ($120 - PNY Pro Elite 512GB)

Cheapest price for a half gig flash drive in almost 2 years. Not the best quality but it's the first time I have been tempted to buy one in that long.

This bodes well for cheap prices on 512 GB SDXC cards in the near future (cheap storage upgrades for MBP and MBA).

Filliam,

Wouldn't go near it. Two bad experiences with a PNY 128GB flash drive have taught me that it's worth the bucks to go for a better brand and drive, i.e. SanDisk Extreme. Even now, the PNY 128GB flash drive is pathetically slow. Had PNY replace it with a newer version and it suffers from the same craptacular awful performance.

More PNY:

I have a 256 GB PNY USB3 drive and it does *exactly* what some people describe for this drive. OKish performance most of the time but inexplicably pauses for a few seconds at frequent intervals. Just when reading data, not even writing it. And not during long data accesses, just browsing files. Really annoying.

Stick with SanDisk.
