Paintless dent removal

I have this fender, that I picked up at a junkyard. Its the same color as the car that has a damaged fender.

This new fender has some small pings/dents in it.

With the fender off, I suppose one of those Paintless Dent removal places could easily tap or use their skills to make those areas almost disappear.

Anyone have any experience with Paintless dent removal. Or do you think I could watch a youtube video or two, and do it myself.

Maybe buy a similar damaged fender to practice on. It's been around a long time. One Youtube series looked like it was converted from VHS.

Should only be $50 to $100 to have a Pro do it. Especially if it is off the car.

I payed $100 to have some big dings taken out of my 2016 Forester before I sold I. No way I could have done as good a job without a couple grand and tools.

I had a small but very noticeable dent in a door and $75 and twenty minutes later a pro made it disappear.

I had a small dent taken out from a fender.

The guy used what resembled a very strong bent coat hanger. It was actually a little more sophisticated looking.

The guy make it look so easy anybody could do it. Based on that I recommend you not try, and just pay the man.

Give someone a call to see if being off the car is an advantage. When done to my car, there was considerable pressure applied to the tool and fender, and stability, along with precise fine motor skills were key. Too much pressure or a slip and the fender is ruined for paintless dent removal.

Just pay the man.

On things like this, I ask myself if it's wort me learning and buying the tools. If it were me, it wouldn't be.

For example, I'm currently building up a new bike. I bought a used frame that needs new bearings. I looked at the cost of paying someone and it's less than a good bearing press would cost me. I would rarely (like once every 3-5 years) need the press, so I'm going to pay someone to do it.

The pros are artists. We had a dent removed from my wife's car that I thought they would reject the job and send us to a body shop. But no...they massaged that metal and magically made a pretty severe dent disappear. No way on earth could I do that without weeks of training.

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

This. My dent wasn't severe but close and very noticeable crease. And it was undetectable when he was done. It is artistry.

And that.

Odds are, at this point, you'd only make matters worse on your 'new' fender.

Word of mouth for the good ones. Ask around at Car clubs in the area. If they don’t do an awesome job they aren’t going to get good recomendations from enthusiasts.
