Lost in Space: Parker Posey as Doctor Smith – Diabolical.

Watching the Lost in Space reboot on Netflix.

A few episodes in, I'm enjoying it.

Very different story in many ways, except for the premise of leaving earth to colonize a new planet and the names of the main characters.

Not a kids show like the original, but probably safe for kids to watch.

Parker Posey as Dr. Smith is doing a good job as the sneaky/creepy villain.

The whole robot situation is great. Loving it.

Quite a lot happening and still a lot unknown, so clearly they have a lot of story to tell, assuming it gets renewed.

10-episode season one.

Supposedly, season two is already in the works, but waiting for the official green light.

Dunno if you noticed the homages to the original...

The real "Dr. Smith" she assumed the identity of was played by Bill Mumy - who played Will Robinson in the original.
Her characters "real name" is June Harris - I'm guessing for June Lockhart and Jonathan Harris.

That's all I've caught so far... I'm also only a few episodes in.

I'm not sure what I think of it so far. Some pretty ridiculous plot holes so far. "Oh, look, we're in a 20 below zero glacial wilderness... Oh, look, five miles away, we're in a forest... Oh, look, just a few more miles and we're in a desert".

I tried watching it yesterday, it was okay but nothing that makes me want to watch more. Actually it made me want to look at the original program on Youtube (But then, I've always like campiness)

Hey! I had not noticed that was Billy Mumy. Awesome.

I did notice June Harris. And the character Angela I assumed was for the original Penny, Angela Cartwright.

Some suspension of disbelief is called for, for sure. But, that's true of most entertainment, and I am being entertained by Dr. Smith and the Robot.

I'm also a fan of Toby Stephens and Molly Parker. I think it's great that Netflix is able to get talented veteran actors for their programming. And Selma Blair for the bit part as Parker Posey's sister was brilliant.

Not sure how many episodes you've seen. There's an explanation for environmental weirdness. Might not be a good/realistic explanation, but I'm guessing the creators rationalized all of it in their own minds.

Yeah. It's a very different show, that's for sure.

The original is (or was) all on Hulu.
Back when I saw that they were doing a reboot, it prompted me to go back and watch some of the original but, as often happens when you revisit things from your youth, it wasn't as I remembered it.

Maybe the worst thing I've seen of the Netflix originals.

I agree with smacks, it is terrible. I made it half way thru the first episode before turning it off. I was hoping they would all freeze to death so better characters could be introduced. Zero explanation of what was happening. The 90’s movie was way better.

I'll try a couple more episodes, but I'm not feeling it.

It doesn't bother me that it's a different show, but other things bother me. I do like the quality of the sets and special effects.

My girlfriend pointed out Billy Mumy (after the show, of course) but I got the name references.

Too many tropes, and so far really nothing to like about any of the characters.

Is it common knowledge that Mumy was one of the duo that created the Dr Demento classic 'Fish heads'? It wasn't common to me... but it's true...

I did know this, but I'm a music nerd. And a nerd in general.

Gilbert's interview with him is entertaining.

To mark the 50th anniversary of the classic adventure series “Lost in Space,” Gilbert and Frank dial up Will Robinson himself, actor, musician and voice artist Bill Mumy, who shares childhood memories of working with icons Irwin Allen, Brigitte Bardot and Walt Disney and explains why he turned down the role of Eddie Munster. Also, Bill runs afoul of Alfred Hitchcock, stars in three unforgettable “Twilight Zone” episodes and records the novelty song “Fish Heads.” PLUS: “The Great Vegetable Rebellion”! Billy meets Keith Richards! Zorro meets Eva Peron! And Gilbert tangles with the Man of Steel!

It does get better. I'm in Michigan and the cold ICE PLANET thing disturbed me at first but more episodes in the Jupiters landed all over the planet. It gets better when they are in a "normal" world.

I binged watched the whole thing - I like it.
