Mountain Lion

I just saw a mountain lion while driving home. It was crouched down close to the road as I drove slowly past. A younger one, I think.

I came back by for a second look but it was gone. Just east of Alta, WY.

Basically, geography.

Same animal, with even more names than you can shake a stick at.

Yup. Maybe a couple dozen names worldwide for the same basic cat. Minor genetic variants, but all the same species I believe.
