Best Auto shopping sites ?

Mrs. cbelt3 settled on an RAV/4 so we can have $$ for me to buy a car. So now I'm shopping.....

Took a look at a couple of nice little Priuses (Priiusii ? ). I'm not sure I would enjoy driving without a stick.. So I'm looking for a zoomy little coupe with a stick shift. (Can you say midlife crisis ?).

The 'main' car sites all have different inventory connections... what's the best site to look through ?

depends?

do you want to buy from a private party? large dealer? corner lot?

Not sure I would want to drive a Prius *with* a stick even if it had one, and if it did "enjoy" wouldnt be the right word. Tedious might be more accurate.

By "coupe" do you mean 2 door?

Have owned since teenage years many a stick shift vehicles. As I got older I grew out out of that phase and never went back. Depending on your age, I am old retired guy, your knees may tell you what is appropriate for a transmission type. :-)

I have heard some positive reviews of carvana.com, but have not used them.

Good luck!

I've never bought through them, but have used Carsdirect.com for price negotiations.

jdc.. no, they don't make a Prius with a stick. Deceleration recharges the battery.. that's the whole idea.
jh... yeah, I might need to admit to myself that it's not a good idea.

Ugh.

Ugh.

I just got my first automatic since 1986. My knees could still take it, but stop and go traffic was beginning to be a drag.

Yeah =)

Wife owns a 2010 Mazda 3 with a 6 speed manual, has bigger engine, tighter suspension and laded with evertyhing else -- leather, sunroof, heated seats, Bose audio. Fun to drive. Like a go cart.

Rarely drive it, but dont miss the stick when I get into our van. Learned to drive in a Chevy truck with 3 on the tree, so I get it. Many other stick and no stick cars over time.

If I bought new, might consider something with paddle shifters?

Hmm.... interesting thought. I am the kind of guy who will downshift an automatic that has that feature. Gives me a bit better feeling of control. That's a good idea....

Now I've got that Beach Boys GTI commercial in my head.... Wa wa..... little GTI !!!!

Except around here they are all rusted away, or have been dropped, tuned, and all riced up. Bleah.

I want a little car that can zoom around but doesn't look like much. I've always preferred the "Q Ship" approach.

~ a month ago, I bought a 2018 Prius Four Touring. "TrueCar" should be called TrueScam in my opinion.

Visit as many dealers as you can and, be ready to walk away. That's really the only time car sellers will come down in price. Otherwise, dealers act like they're doing you a favor selling you a highly marked up car.

This Prius replaces a 2012 Prius C which was arguably the best car I ever had. It's the third Toyota and, the first time I've ever bought the same brand two times in a row.

As I got older I grew out out of that phase and never went back.

That's me. Never owned a M/T but drove them a lot. Fun, but I was never the 'burning rubber' type. And it just g o t t e d i o u s. Driving in SF, stop and go traffic. At least with a bike, my knee does get fatigued and gear changes are much quicker, less exaggerated. Stop and go traffic can be a real drag especially if I can't split lanes.

That said, I saw a newish RAV/4 recently, white, and thought it looked really nice. Not to small, like the old version, and not to big, at least from the glimpse I got as it passed me. I'm not all that much of an SUV guy, the RAV is attractive.

Toyota has been selling the RAV4 Hybrid since 2016. The hybrid is all wheel drive, and mine gets about 35 mpg during mostly highway driving - recommended. That's about 10 mpg better than the gas version.
