Keepvid seems to no longer support downloading videos

Went to download a video from YouTube on keepvid.com, and was greeted with a treatise on what sites people download videos from. From their main page:

There are many video sharing sites in the market. KeepVid learns from their website descriptions that these websites allow you to download videos and watch them offline. In this part, KeepVid will introduce you the top sites to watch and download videos.
Note: Using these downloaders to download copyright-protected videos or the videos without permissions may put you into risks. KeepVId suggest you download videos legally in accordance with the related terms and conditions.

I ended up downloading MacX YouTube Downloader. That worked fine. Shame... I liked keepvid.

most of those youtube downloader apps are the sleaziest kinds of apps - be careful!

after a little reading, it looks like the maker of that app is indeed a sleazy one...

it seems to be based in China - interesting since youtube is illegal in china

people that have purchased lifetime licenses complain that they are not honored.

That happened a couple of months ago.

If I recall correctly, this was an acceptable alternative.

I've been using clipgrab with success for awhile

I also have been using ClipGrab.

Every so often there's a hiccup that's cured by updating to a new version. I usually get a notification of a new version, but every often it skips a generation.

The one issue is that it won't grab some Vimeo videos. That's disappointing. Trying to wade through Page Source does not work well for me, batting .500.
