.......'Superboy'.........lasted 4 seasons.........

........don't remember this one at all......from the Salkinds who made the 'Superman' and 'Supergirl' movies.....

......Superboy was played by John Haymes Newton (Season 1) then by Gerard Christopher (Seasons 2-4).....

....Superboy is an American television series based on the fictional DC Comics comic book character Superman's early years as Superboy. The show ran from 1988–1992 in syndication. It was renamed The Adventures of Superboy at the start of the third season......

this is a collection of all the intros for the seasons..................?!

I remember it being a thing, but I never watched it.

There were a lot of weird SF-ish syndicated shows in those days. Tales From the Darkside, War of the Worlds, Superboy, etc. Most of them were very cheaply made and the quality would vary wildly from one episode to another.

My brain is still seared from Debra Winger going from Wonder Woman to Officer & Gentleman.

Was aware of the series, but the the period it was released coincided with my two sons being born, their mother going back to school to add an AS in Nursing to her BA in English, and becoming a RN. Don't recall if the show was syndicated o none of the stations available on out cable system at the time, but just did not have time to watch.

Will Collier mentions that period having a lot of syndicated shows around. Then there were still a large number of independent TV stations, every large metropolitan area had at least one. Those independents were looking for some original syndicated material to supplement the syndicated reruns of shows from the big 3 networks, so there was a market for producers to supply. Adventure, SF, fantasy type shows abounded in syndication.

As first Fox, and then other new networks such as UPN and The WB started gobbling up these independents in the early to mid-'90's, the market for original direct to syndication shows dried up. It is sort of coming back with sales to streaming services like Netflix and Hulu.

I remember and watched it for most of the first season, but gave up.

The special effects were pretty good for TV at the time, but it still felt cheezy. Superboy never really seemed in a hurry with flying. I loved the sounds effects when George Reeves as Superman, would take flight.

When Chris Reeves made the first Superman movie, his hovering and slow-speed flying reminded me of the Superboy series and I rigged for disappointment. But there was none.

The TV show really changed comic book storylines and I didn't like that at all. So the sum was less than the total of the parts, and I bailed.

If you were exposed to junk like that, you must have had a frightening childhood.

I've never heard of it, but I did watch my fair share of junk on UHF channels when I was a kid.
