Sharing Apple storage with Family Member

I was watching the High Sierra video, that talks about what is new, and a section mentioned Family Sharing of storage place. I thought that since my wife got rid of the nag about not having enough storage by paying the .99 cents a month, that maybe I could share her space. But am I reading it correctly, they want you to buy the 200 Gigs worth of storage before you can do that?

Thanks

All I want to do is backup my iPhone occasionally and get rid of this reminder.

I did the 200g ($3), shared, and backed up all the iOS devices. It's worth it for the peace of mind.

Or you could just get your own $1 plan. =)

If you turn on icloud backup, you never have to do anything ever again -- backs up automatically all the time -- no need to manually do it "occasionally".

Like cbelt, all of our iDevices are backed up via icloud, and have never even touch a mac.

Get a new phone? just restore from iCloud... back to where you were...
