Bought a used MacMini off eBay

Exchanged a couple emails with the seller. Its a 2014 model, 2.6ghz, 16gb ram, and a 1TB hard drive.

Said he used it for a year, but got a laptop from his job.

Was $450 minus the 10% off coupon eBay was running. Hopefully it is all on the up and up, but at least eBay has the money back guarantee if it isn't what it is billed as.

My plan it to run an external SSD either as the main drive or as a back drive.

So if you have an decent buys out there on drives let me know.

I'll update you when it arrives. It ought to be a nice bounce from my 2010 Mini. A trusty wonderful machine which is starting to show its age.

your ultimate drive is to find an apple PCI drive and connecting cable on ebay. easy to install. That's what i've got now - a 2.6 w 8GB, 128 PCI SSD as the boot and 2tb for media.

Nope. On a 2014 Mini that came with only a hard drive, there is no pci connection on the mobo, only a SATA one.

yes there is... you just need the SSD and the cable - the port is there. I did this with the same computer Grumpy just bought.

Any SSD will make that machine fly compared to a spinny disk.

Yeah, there's a tiny little socket on the board. Was just digging in my 2014 and saw it. Useless without the Apple kit.
