Speaking of cars you've owned...

I may have asked this before, but if not, here goes.

Does anyone know of a way to get a list of all the vehicles ever registered to a particular person (me)? I can jog my brain and come up with most of them, but every once in a while I'll remember one I'd forgotten about over the years. It would be kind of fun to see a chronological list of vehicles and the years I owned/registered them. And yes, I might even be willing to pay a small fee for such an option.

I'd pay for that. Not sure how that would work as multiple states would have to be involved. If you stuck with one insurance company the entire time they might be able to pull your history...I have cars that I registered and drove but didn't keep for 30 days so they never were added to my insurance so that wouldn't quite work for me.

Go to your local dmv or rmv with a really good box of chocolates and ask nicely.

I'm w/ C(-)ris on this one, too many short-termers, and and non-registered, non-insured vehicles to come up w/ a viable list.
Impossible to find a source, other than memory.

And if you leased, the vehicle would not be registered under your name.

Leased cars are still registered to the leasee, driver. Not the finance company.

Same way cars financed through a bank are not registered to the bank

Wow. No need for this car tracking service for us yet:

Me:
83 Volvo 245 (scrapped)

Wife:
82 Volvo 244 (died- dependable vaporlock)
90 Volvo 960 Turbo (sold, still working)

Us:
06 Honda Odyssey

If I can't remember that then I have bigger problems.

I can remember many of them, but I know of at least three that aren't pictured here. Plus, it would be nice to remember the years (or at least the order) in which I owned them.

My leased car is registered to Toyota. The title is owned by Toyota. Property taxes on it are paid by Toyota Finance and I then reimburse them.

My name is on the registration in what they identify as a "special field" for the purpose of identifying the lessee. I have no right to change information on the registration without getting a letter and power of attorney from Toyota. I can't even get custom plates without a power of attorney from Toyota.

Hmm, I guess it varies by state. My leased cars are registered in my name and the lessor shows up as the lien holder on the registration.
