The New iPhones Are Big So You Won’t Put Them Down - Atlantic Monthly

Luddites unite. I don't want anything bigger than my iPhone 6.

The new iPhones are huge. Absurdly huge.

What’s going on? Bigger, costlier devices generate more profit, for one part. But for another, consumers seem to want bigger phones. They also want big houses, big cars, big televisions. Big is good, small is bad. But Apple also has been pushing bigger models on its customers, so calling the trend a consumer choice is misleading and incomplete.

Instead, Apple is making a statement about how you ought to use your smartphone. Not casually, but wholly. With your entire face and body involved. Both hands gripped fast to the device, held close, so the external world can recede and the smartphone’s can take its place.

Hmm. I thought everyone was going to tiny houses, NO cars (Uber, Lyft)...

I would love a 6-sized screen, edge-to-edge, in roughly 5-sized case.

Tired of you $1000 phone's big screen? Here, buy this $400 watch so it's less intrusive!

I can't blame them for making money, I'm just sorry its though crap like this instead of fantastic innovation.

I agree, Ive got an SE myself. I was just thinking history.

the "perfect" updated SE would have been the latest iPod touch made into a phone.

single piece case, looks like a 6/7/8. If they made it with an edge to edge screen... perfect.

However, I pretty much knew the writing was on the wall when you could get SEs for $150 earler this year. Had to mean sales were so slow on the super cheap price could save it.

I agree, but the iPhone Xs is only slightly larger in each dimension than the iPhone 6.

Yeah, the trend really does remind one of the BFR craze…

Well I kept putting off buying an SE expecting an SE2. There aren't any SEs in the Refurb store. So I'm not sure where to buy one. Suggestions on where to buy an SE?

Unlocked? or does it matter? Think $300 ulocked.

walmart, target and BB have them tied to whatever their carrier is, think its Total wireless? under $150, but no idea how long you have to keep it on Total.

I think ATT (and others?) will still let you buy one.

target is $140 with "simple mobile"
