At her age, falls commonly kill. Best wishes for a full recovery.

I took a reverse punch to the ribs in college while sparring. Broke a couple ribs.

It only hurts when you breathe.

FWIW, it's usually the lack of mobility during recovery that causes complications. 21st century medicine involves keeping the patient up and moving as much as possible.

Lets start the conspiracy -- Was she pushed or tripped?

It's fractured hips that really do people in.

She went home after the fall, but decided later to seek medical treatment. Therefore, still pretty mobile, fortunately.

Yep, a broken hip due to a freak accident fall led to the death of my father in law. sad smiley
My mom is 87 and has cracked a few ribs over the years, usually when doing something overly strenuous while gardening. I know they hurt a lot, but luckily hers have healed.

It's fractured hips that really do people in.

Ain't that the truth.

From my experience, a person fractures their hip and goes to the hospital, and then dies from infection.

I've known several instances of this dynamic, and then lost a friend a few years back to exactly the same thing.

My best friend's two daughters sneaked in to see the guy hours before he passed.

It was terribly sad.
