Yes, spend the $1k. It beats having a heart attack from shoveling. (My 1999 Deere blower cost $7,500 used and it’s been worth every penny, just ask my neighbors.)

just started on my new-to-me old Craftsman blower I picked up this summer. not running. but I disassembled the carb and found the throttle stuck open. also took off electric starter as it was frozen and freed that up. now, to put it back together and see if I got something. trying to spend $0 on it for now until I know it will blow the snow. also doing it so I can give it to my kids and they can earn some money.

You're gonna need a back-up snow blower, so they can be out there making the big bucks with the one that is running while you are repairing the one that isn't.
