Why yes, I am a nice person (usually).

And yes, my shoes are (relatively) clean.

I left them out near the back door (where I change them out for house moccasins upon entry).

And yes, I found a gift in one of them this morning.

A little stuffed mouse one of my cats periodically carries around in her mouth and drops into small spaces like her water bowl, coffee cups on the kitchen counter, bowls of fruit, etc.

Why apologize for something that is statistically true , as unfortunate as that is
unless of course you live in a feel good make believe fantasy world

You can condemn the truth and work to change the statistics or gloss over them and do nothing
