To get the iPad deal, I had to sign up for a Target account, but there is no way to 'unsubscribe' I'm DONE with Target

I've been getting tons of spam from Target since I signed up for an account. There is no 'unsubscribe' link in the emails. Lots of other links... I've followed them all down and NOTHING leads to an unsubscribe link.

I can't seem to close the account. I can't change email contact unless a give a new email and verify it (by replying to an email).

On the phone now... was told to scroll down and click 'unsubscribe' - hahahaha - now she's off 'utilizing her resources' to find an answer - AWESOME!

Well, I guess her resources suck and I was sent to a 'SPECIALIST' who took care of the issue. When I asked if this is the only way to unsubscribe, she said that if I scrolled to the bottom of the email...

this is the bottom of my Target emails:

none of those links lead to something that will stop the spam

Stupid target... I WAS able to change the email address to anywhereelse@gmail.com and they sent the confirmation to MY actual email address, not the fake one.

I HATE spam...

That's why I have an email address specifically for commercial use (ie; Target, WalMart, Amazon, etc...) and one for actual PEOPLE.

It's nice only having to check my "commerical junk" email address when I need to follow up a tracking number, etc.

in Gmail (web interface), there is a button right at the top

Target <targetnews@em.target.com> Unsubscribe

also, gmail does not show the entire message. At the bottom there is

[Message clipped] View entire message

when I click to view the entire message, it opens in a new tab, and there is a way to unsubscribe at the bottom.

Yeah, I see an unsubscribe option on my previous Target emails. There aren’t any on “Thank you for your order” or “Your order has shipped” -type emails, but that makes sense.

Maybe someone/something slipped up recently?

Dude. It's just email. Put it into a spam folder and forget about it. You didn't use your work email or anything like that, correct??

even if you use your work email, just setup a filter and move it to junk if it really bothers you.

P.S. he doesn't seem to have a "work email", he hikes a lot, he buys and sells used Macs on eBay, etc. nothing wrong with that. In fact I wish I had his freedom. No boss to worry about smiling smiley

could be worse ... like several years ago when I had the audacity to want to cancel by Target Red Card credit card.

You would not have believed how hard that was. It was just inconceivable* to the phone support (possibly indian) person that I would want to do such a thing.

* yes, i that word means what I think it means.

The unsubscribe link is at the bottom of Target spam emails, not regular correspondence or contact with them.

The mail client that ships with iOS often provides an "Unsubscribe..." link at the top of such e-mails.

It is what it is.

Purchased something from Target.com for the first time on Black Friday.

They sent a half dozen status updates about the order and then proceeded to send 15 more messages to me promoting ship-to-store, pushing sales, asking me to rate the experience and pushing their credit card. There was an unsubscribe link and I used it and over the next 3-4 days it trickled down to just a few lingering "guest survey" messages and finally stopped.

Whoever is in charge of their mailing list has a special place in hell waiting for her.

My wife ordered some junk from Oriental Trading about 12 or so years ago. Though we've never ordered since, I still get paper catalogs in the mail from them.

I also was getting emails from them regularly; unsubscribe was like the toast-level dial on an old toaster. Did nothing. So I set up a simple rule in mail for auto-deletion about 10 or so years back and haven't seen an email from them since, though I probably still get them.

BTW, it's spelled y'all

Don't.

"Them" seemed impersonal and "him" seemed a little anachronistically patriarchal.

When in doubt. use the feminine form.

So much for that.. received two more messages from Target demanding that I go back to their site to review my purchases.

Bunch of links at the bottom of each message, none of which provides an unsubscribe option.

I strongly recommend that everyone avoid purchasing anything from target.com.
