How do I uninstall Chrome?

I don't see an uninstaller in the package contents so can I just drag it to the Trash and Empty it? It's something else I want to check out based on the troubles I'm having (see post below). It's slow and buggy and I'm want to see if anything is affected by its removal. If nothing changes I can always reinstall it.

I did a DU Verify on my HD and it's fine.

This is what I use. It is not perfect, but it gets rid of 98%, and does remove all active parts.

Drag to trash and empty is pretty standard for deleting 99% of apps.

Have you run Activity Monitor to see if something is using a lot of CPU time? Or looked at console logs to see if there's some sort of error being reported continuously?

How about available disk space?

I would do all of those things before deleting apps, especially apps that aren't even running.

Isn't there an auto-updater that lives in the Library? or is that old news?

There used to be one at least, but I understand they got a lot of complaints about it scanning for updates to all possible Google apps. So recent downloads appear to no longer have that. But if your Chrome install dates back to then, I have no idea if later updates removed that auto-updater.

Am posting now on Safari on the external I loaded Mojave on. It's a LOT snappier and it seems I have a whole new machine! When I get off that I'll check into your suggestions. Thanks, all!
