Why a USB port on a DSL modem?

I have this modem from Verizon for DSL (which I don't use, I have FiOS)...

What's with the USB port? Some way to use it as a print server? seems unlikely, as it's a 'B' style port.

Just wondering.

My friend had a Windows XP box built for his wife and kids and forgot to have a network card installed... So, he uses the USB port and it works great. Then, the eithernet port is used on the mac... so, almost like a built in router.

Most PC crap computers to this day don't have an enet port. It was a frickin' nightmare in the late nineties juggling Windows releases, drivers, and enet cards.
