Gold Milanese Loop

I am thinking of picking up one if these for my better 3/4 (AKA wife). for 2/14
She has a 38 mm Apple Watch 3, she stained the pink sports bracelet that came with it, so now she got a cheap bracelet style on Amazon. While it is OK, I think a Milanese Loop would be nicer. Of course she might say she does not like it, but in that case I take it back to Apple Store and let her buy herself something else. I think it is the thought that matters, right?

Anyway, are these reliable (i.e. strong enough so the watch does not fall off). Are these magnetic? does it wear out over time? is the coating durable or flakes off over time?

Thanks

EDIT: reviews are mixed... apparently the current model (40 mm, also compatible with 38) is not as good as the old 38 mm model

We have a couple of metal knockoffs from amazon, they seem to work well.

Oldest likes the leather ones, has pink and light blue. Also from amazon.

I don't think anybody makes bands better than what Apple sells.

There are some that are 'good enough' and represent an ROI that a lot of people are happy with, but they're not better made bands.

The Milanese Loop uses a magnetic 'catch' Many reviews I've read do say the magnet slips a little throughout the day. But it's much worse with the AMZ knock-offs, as the magnets are generally cheaper and weaker.

I have one of those for my SSAW and it's not bad, but it slips a lot. Still, it has a very nice feel, and doesn't grab the hair on my wrist. I'd think the Apple Milanese would be even less likely to grab.

I believe there is no difference in the 'old' (38/42) bands vs the 'new' (40/44) bands. They're the same, it's just the names have been changed to reflect the new sizes.

The one possible annoyance might be — putting the Watch on. The magnet can get the band all bunched up and it might take a little practice to get it down.

I say buy it, try it. It can always go back.

I have an Amazon knockoff, but it's been terrific. $9 shipped. Installed in seconds.

I too have a highly rated Amazon knock-off (about $10). It's been great - the magnet is much stronger than I anticipated.

Just checked - same one Sekker linked to...

I have the stainless steel Milanese loop from Apple and I like it a lot. It does not slip off me or get too loose or get caught on arm hair. Go got it!

I too went with Amazon knock offs. I think I've had 4 so far. Two got snags in the band, (my fault) and had to replace early. One just had too weak of a magnet, I was always adjusting it. My current milanese K.O. has been great! Strong magnet, no snags, no hair pulling.

I can't compare it to Apple's milanese. I cannot justify the huge price difference to try one out. I'm happy with the knockoffs.
