Chorizo dried sausage and pepperoni? Both from pork and hard meats. Is the spice/flavor diff?

Spanish or Portuguese chorizo is pork and natural casing. It is fermented and smoked. Typically has a large grain and tends for be hard.
Pepperoni is typically pork and beef or turkey with an artificial casing. It is cured and lightly smoked. It has a smaller grain size and is semi hard

I've heard that Spanish and Mexican chorizo are different. I've never eaten it, so I don't know what the difference is.

Sam! How can you be "Samintx" and not have run into chorizo?

It's a little heart-burny to me, but it has its uses (and its fans!)

The major differences is spices, chorizo has cumin and usually multiple types of mexican dried chilis. Pepperoni has European smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, and anise.

Very different. Mexican chorizo is all over the place taste wise. I don't think mexican chorizo is smoked

There are many many types of dry sausages in the world. The two you mentioned are the most common in the US, but in Europe every region makes their own kind or three. Meat composition, casing, type of curing, and a lot of variability in spices. For me , pepperoni is an abomination and I have never seen them outside of the US, but tastes differ...
