Recommendation needed for 3.5" cable from Aux in car to iPhone
Posted by: Microman

I have not found a good cable to go between my data input on 09 Corolla, and my iPhone. Usually the one that goes in the iPhone keeps popping out. I do have a case on phone, but that doesn't seem to be the problem

EDIT: iPhone 6s

EDIT: Audio Cable

I actually found that the $1 3.5 mm cable from the Dollar Tree works fine between my receiver and an iPhone.

If your iphone cable is popping out, then the case is definitely the problem. You need a slimmer plug on that end. I use this, it's great. Very short, because I put the phone on a magnetic stand on the dash so I can see it.

data input? - Audio cable or USB cable?
edit: duh, now I see you're asking about a 3.5mm audio cable. I was just
at $Tree and their's all looked like they'd fit in thru my o-box's opening to
the headphone jack. They now have several styles available.

Micro,

How about a bluetooth adapter? It'll serve for music and calls. You'll have to charge it as necessary but the adapter will do the job nicely. I can vouch for it.

Worst case, if you don't like it, just use the cable that comes with it for a straight hardwire connection between your phone and the car.

There are many on Amazon, but an easy trick is if they say they're "Beats compatible", that means it has a skinny connector that will fit anything. You can look for a skinny shell, or for a skinny extension for the plug, but unless it provides a diagram w/ measurements (many do), you might not get exactly what is shown. I've purchased many 3.5mm cables, and one of them that had a reasonably long skinny extension in its online pic (like 5-6mm), showed up w/ only like 2mm of skinny extension, and wasn't usable w/ skinny applications like cases w/ small opening for aux port.

To that end, w/ those cases, you can carefully drill, Dremel, cut, and/or scrape the case's opening a bit larger to accommodate pretty much any cable.
Good luck.

Pretty sure we got an Anker 3.5 mm stereo cable for our minivan. It had metal boots on the ends, which were quite small and fit all of our iPhone cases. It also came with a velcro wrap to hold it coiled up when not in use. (I wasn't looking for that, but it was a nice addition.)

I think it was like this one, 8 feet so it would reach to the back. It seems quite well made.

Good luck.
