Smart Bulbs and what I should know

Bought a pair of FEIT smart bulbs at Costco. Installed and had trouble connecting the 2nd one. So I read reviews online, and see that if I was to loose power, that these bulbs would need to be reconnected to stop their flashing.

Someone said in the reviews they are not Zwave compatible.

What type or companies smart bulb would I find the most pleasure, and not have that particular problem?

Am I the only one here who doesn't particularly want my light bulbs to be "smart". Also, based on your description it sounds like your smart bulbs are a bit dumb.

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

I put 'smart bulbs' in a number of fixtures in my basement, rather than running switch wires to them. It works pretty well, except power outages can cause them to go wonky as mentioned above. Mostly GE Bulbs through a "Wink" Z-Wave hub.

I like my Hue bulbs but they're pricey compared to some others.

They need the Hue hub. It sounds like the Feits don't.

LIFX bulbs are often offered as options whenever somebody mentions Hue products.

Every smart bulb has pros and cons.

I like that Hue works with HomeKit. It makes things a little more convenient.
