Is it safe to eat?

Wife and I went to anniversary dinner in SF last night then stayed the night in the city.

Had about 8oz of leftover filet mignon from Ruth's Chris but the hotel room didn't have a refrigerator so it was at room temp from about 9pm last night until i got it home into the fridge at about 9am this morning. So it was in a thick foil to go bag for about 12 hours.

So...safe to eat? I really want to, it was delicious and i don't want to waste it.
If not, any reason not to give it to the dog?

Wow, I really didn't think it would be there, but sure enough, it was:

... so there you have it. Don't take the risk, give it to the canine.

Nooo.

Don't give it to the dog. Give it to the garbage can.

As much as I hate it...I’m going to toss it. Not worth the risk now that I’ve read up on it

even if it was one of those super expensive Japanese stakes, I would NOT take a chance. No chance in hell. Your liver and kidney will thank you.

I thought about that too, but the canine digestive tract is a bit better at handling some things than ours.

Agreed though it should get circular filed.

Noooo! Just one episode of food poisoning and worship at the white altar is enough to make anyone swear off taking a chance like that.

"In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." (1987) -- Carl Sagan

If you're willing to recook it, go for it. Otherwise, get a new Kindle book fired up....

Cooking can kill bacteria (some can go into a spore-state and survive it - see C. perfringens and botulism), but the toxins from bacteria don't necessarily denature and inactivate upon cooking (Staph, E. coli).
